Our day in

Bratislava was enough to convince me that Bratislavans love Patrick Swayze. After our adventures at the castle, we headed into Old Town to get dinner and see what’s there. The restaurant was playing Ghost, though the volume was turned down, so I don’t know which language it was in. Later on, we were waiting in a coffee shop at the train station, and “The Time of My Life” was playing. It’s not exactly a scientific assessment, but this evidence seems compelling to me. And honestly, who can blame them?

Bratislava’s Old Town is lovely – it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, in fact. In addition to the beautiful historic buildings, there are quirky, life-sized statues scattered around as well. Most are bronze, but one is silver. They are fun to pose with and add a fun element to the Old Town.

The food was excellent as well – both at dinner and coffee at the station. My dinner was a beef dish with a horseradish sauce and roasted potatoes. I consider it the height of self control that I refrained from licking my plate at the table. Adulthood and all that.
Here are a few more pictures from our adventures in Old Town Bratislava.
