The journey back to Bangkok from Ayutthaya was by the Chao Phraya River, appropriate given that the kingdom moved in the same direction after the Burmese sacked Ayutthaya in 1782. The boat cruise down the river was relaxing and long – the boat journey took almost 3 hours when the journey by bus was less than an hour. But there was food on the boat, so all was well.

Along the banks of the river, you could see homes, temples, and industry. It was fascinating to sit on the top deck and just watch it all go by. Enjoy the pictures from that journey.
