Helicopter rules.

During our stay in Franz Josef, we had the choice between a glacier hike and a helicopter ride. I opted for the helicopter ride since I’d never been in one before. It was one of my favorite activities on the whole tour.

The helicopter landed about midway through the ride so we could get out in the snow

As you can see from the pictures, the views from the helicopter were simple breathtaking. We saw Mts. Cook and Tasman, two of the highest peaks in New Zealand. Mt. Cook is the highest at 12,316 feet. We also saw three glaciers: Fox, Franz Josef and Tasman.

Enjoy the pictures today and more tomorrow.

My helicopter ride was delayed, so I had this double-decker bacon sandwich in their cafe while I waited. That’s winning at life, friends.
