One weekend I took a tour of the Wachau in the Danube Valley, including a visit to Krems an der Donau. This medieval town on the banks of the Danube has a beautiful Old Town complete with city gate from the 15th century. Each building is decorated with a sculpture, painting or carving on the façade, so window shopping here is a special treat.

I walked through the Old Town and then climbed up to visit the Piaristenkirche, both to see the church and views of the town. Around the church are paintings and sculptures depicting the Passion of the Christ: the events around his crucifixion and burial. I thought each little vignette was fascinating in its detail. The inside of the church was quite opulent as well.
