On one of our adventures, ST and I got to visit a coconut and orchid farm. It was a pretty small spot and they clearly catered to tourists with the requisite gift shop. But I thought the demonstration of the various processing steps for coconuts was interesting. They showed us how the coconuts are harvested from tiny ladders that take faith and skill to operate. We also saw how the various parts of the coconut are used for meat, milk, water and sugar. It really is a remarkably versatile fruit.

The orchid greenhouse was a lot more low-key. We got to just wander and look at the plants in various stages.

Orchids and coconut are both ubiquitous in Thailand, as in many other tropical places. I remember seeing a similar coconut demonstration in Belize, though the uses and steps were a little different.
